Privacy policy
Effective 15 October 2026
Hyprtile is an Android home screen app (a launcher) made by Marko Zanoski. This policy explains what the app does with your data. The short version: there is no account, no advertising, no analytics and no server of ours. Almost everything stays on your phone.
What stays on your phone
To work as a launcher and fill its windows, Hyprtile reads some things on your device. None of these are sent to us or to anyone else.
- Installed apps. The list of apps you can open, so they appear in the launcher, search and pinned apps.
- How often you open each app. A simple count, kept in the app's own storage, used to sort your apps.
- Notifications. Only if you turn on notification access. They are shown in the notifications window and can be opened or dismissed from there. They are never stored after they are gone and never leave the phone.
- Media playback. With notification access, the title and controls of what is playing, for the now playing window.
- Calendar. Only if you allow it. Your upcoming events are read to show the calendar window. Nothing is written to your calendar.
- System status. Battery, memory, cpu and network numbers, read from Android for the top bar and the system monitor.
- Your settings and config file. Theme, layout, your hyprtile.conf and similar choices, kept in the app's own storage.
- Your own wallpaper. If you pick an image from your phone as the wallpaper, a copy is saved in the app's private storage. It is never uploaded.
What leaves your phone
Only one thing, and only if you allow location access: your approximate location (coarse, about a few kilometres) is used to fetch the weather.
- The coordinates are sent over an encrypted connection to Open Meteo (api.open-meteo.com), a free weather service, which returns the forecast. Open Meteo needs no account or key. Their own privacy terms apply to that request.
- To show the name of your town, the coordinates are passed to the geocoder built into Android, which is provided by your phone's system (usually Google).
We do not receive, store or see your location. If you do not grant location access, the weather window simply stays empty and nothing is sent.
Permissions
- Internet and network state: to fetch the weather and show your connection.
- Approximate location: for the weather, as above. Optional.
- Calendar (read only): for the calendar window. Optional.
- Notification access: for the notifications and now playing windows. Optional, turned on by you in Android settings.
- Expand status bar: so a swipe down opens your notification shade.
- Request to delete apps: so you can uninstall an app from its menu. Android always asks you to confirm.
- Do not disturb access: only if you want to switch it from the app. Optional.
What we do not do
- No accounts and no sign in.
- No ads and no advertising identifiers.
- No analytics, crash reporting or tracking libraries.
- No selling or sharing of data, because we do not collect any.
Payments
Hyprtile is bought through Google Play. Google handles the payment under its own privacy policy. We receive no card details and no personal data from that purchase beyond what Google Play shows every developer in aggregate sales reports.
Children
Hyprtile is a general audience app and is not directed at children under 13. It collects no personal data from anyone.
Deleting your data
Everything Hyprtile keeps is on your phone. To remove it, clear the app's storage in Android settings or uninstall the app. There is nothing on our side to delete.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If a change ever means data leaves your phone in a new way, the app will ask you first.
